Thai Airways 777-300ER Business Class Review: FRA to BKK TG921

After our bucket list flight on Lufthansa’s 747-400, it was time for our connection to Bangkok in Thai Airways 777-300ER business class.  We’d heard mixed reviews on Thai Airways, so we were curious to see how it was going to compare with other business class products we’ve flown.  Would we find the seats on the 777-300ER too outdated, or would Thai Airways food and hospitality make up for it?

In this post, we’re sharing our full experience flying Thai Airways business class for nearly 11 hours from Frankfurt to Bangkok.  We’ll review the seat, pajamas, food, amenity kit, and what it was really like sleeping on this long-haul overnight flight.

  • Departure Time: 2:45pm

Booking Thai Airways Business Class with Aeroplan Points

Before we get into our full review, let’s start off with how exactly we managed to book three business class seats on Thai Airways.

We typically only fly business class when Ryan and I are going on a special trip just the two of us.  However, this year, we thought we’d try bringing our daughter on her first business class flight.  I started searching business class award availability to see where we could find three seats.

When I saw six award seats available to Thailand on Aeroplan, I got excited! The first leg was on Lufthansa on their 747, with a connection in Frankfurt on Thai Airways to Bangkok.  I immediately booked it.

  • Booking window: 83 days out
  • Points redeemed: 87,500 Aeroplan points per person (if FRA-BKK only, it’s normally 80,000 miles/person)
  • Taxes and fees paid: CAD $165.17 per person
  • Cash price at time of booking: CAD $3273.67 per person

Thai Airways Business Class Baggage Allowance (Royal Silk)

Thai Airways business class passengers are allowed to check up to two pieces of luggage up to 32kg each.

For carry on, business class passengers are allowed one piece up to 7kg, plus personal items not exceeding 1.5kg.

We did not find them to be strict about the carry on limit in business class, though.

Thai Airways Business Class Lounge Access at Frankfurt Airport

Thai Airways does not operate its own lounge at Frankfurt International Airport.  Instead, business class passengers are given access to Lufthansa’s business class lounges, as well as the Air Canada Maple Leaf lounge.

We chose to visit the Lufthansa Business Lounge B44 as it was conveniently located next to our departure gate, B46.

Kids Activities at Lufthansa Business Class Lounge

This was a fantastic lounge – bright and spacious with lots of seating, plenty of food options, and an amazing kids play area!  For a more detailed review, check out our Lufthansa Business Class Review.

Boarding Thai Airways Business Class

Upon arriving at the gate, we saw that the boarding lanes we’re separated with Royal Silk business class on the left of the podium, and economy class to the right.

Thai Airways Gate B46 Frankfurt

The gate area wasn’t too crowded or chaotic, which was nice.  Once boarding began, we joined the Royal Silk line and were able to board the aircraft quickly and efficiently.

Boarding Thai Airways at Frankfurt

We got to enter through the forward business class cabin door, and when we arrived at our seats, there was a pile of amenities waiting for us – pajamas, amenity kit, headphones and bedding.

The crew promptly came around to offer us welcome drinks, a hot towel, and took our dinner orders.  I chose the signature Butterfly Pea drink – sounded strange but was delicious!

Thai Airways 777-300ER Business Class Cabin and Seat Layout

Thai Airways offers two versions of its 777-300ER: 77B and 77Y.  The 77B configuration is the most common and does not include a First Class cabin.

On this flight we were on the 77B configuration with a total of 42 business class seats split into two zones.

Zone A is the larger business class cabin with six rows in a 1-2-1 configuration.  At the front is the galley and one lavatory.  Between Zone A and B is another galley with two additional lavatories.

Zone B consists of four rows, again in a 1-2-1 configuration.

Best Seats on Thai Airways 777-300ER Business Class

The 1-2-1 configuration is nice because every seat has direct aisle access, and it works for both solo travellers and couples.  However, not all seats are created equally.

Thai Airways 777-300er Business Class Cabin

The seats are staggered so window seats are either closer to the window or closer to the aisle, depending where the console is positioned.  Odd numbered rows, plus row 12, are best for “true” window seats.

Best window seats: 12A, 12K, 15A, 15K, 17A, 17K, 19A, 19K, 21A, 21K

For couples wanting to sit together, middle seats in even numbered rows, plus row 11, are best.  These “honeymoon” seats are closer together, with the console located on the aisle side which offers more privacy.

Thai Airways 777-300er Business Class Seats 16E & 16F

Best seats for couples: 11E & 11F, 14E & 14F, 16E & 16F, 18E & 18F, 20E & 20F, 22E & 22F

For passengers traveling with an infant, you’ll want to choose seats 17D, 17G, 22B or 22J.  These are the only seats with bassinets available.  Bassinets must be requested in advance online.

Thai Airways 777-300ER Business Class Seat Review

My daughter and I sat in the middle honeymoon seats, 16E and 16F, so that we could sit closely together.  Rather than sit in the aisle directly across from us, Ryan sat one row ahead in seat 15A so that he could have a better window view.

Leg room

The seat was very spacious with plenty of leg room.  I appreciated that the footwell felt roomier than other business class products I’ve been on.

Thai Airways Business Class Leg Room

Seatbelts

On this seat, there was both a lap belt and shoulder belt.  We were required to wear the shoulder belt during takeoff and landing only, and the crew came around to make sure we had it on.

Thai Airways Business Class Seatbelts

Storage

The area underneath the foot rest was spacious enough to store a small bag and shoes.

Thai Airways Business Class Slippers

Beneath the armrest was a small storage pocket where I stored my camera, phone and headphones.

Thai Airways Business Class Seat Controls

Other than that, there really wasn’t any other storage space.  I placed everything else in the overhead bin.

Side Console

The console table was quite large, with enough room to place my drinks, phone, camera, amenity kit, etc.

Thai Airways Business Class Hot Towel

Above the table was a literature pocket that contained the food menus and a magazine.

On the side of the console were the seat and lighting controls.  There was a lamp on the console, as well as overhead lights.

Below the seat controls was the remote control.  We were thankful that it worked better than the remote control on our last flight.

Thai Airways 777-300er Business Class Remote

On the front of the console was the headphone jack and a universal outlet, which worked perfectly for charging my devices during the flight.

Tray Table

The tray table was stored against the wall beside the TV and aisle.

Thai Airways 777-300er Business Class Tray Table

When unlatched, it folded down and extended out in front of the seat.  I appreciated that the tray table could swivel slightly so that I could still access the aisle when it was in use.

Bedding

When we first arrived at our seats, there was already a medium-sized pillow and plastic-wrapped blanket waiting for us.

Thai Airways Business Class Pillow

The blanket resembled a lightweight duvet – not too thick, not too thin.  It was comfortable but I wish it was a tad softer.

Thai Airways Business Class Blanket

After dinner, while my daughter and I were in the bathroom, the flight attendants got our seats ready for sleep by placing a mattress topper over the seat.

Thai Airways Business Class Mattress Pad

It was lightly padded and made the seats extra comfy.

Lie-flat Bed Experience

Once in bed mode, the seat reclined completely flat.

Thai Airways Business Class Lie-Flat Bed

Compared to our previous flight on Lufthansa, this bed felt much more comfy.  I could sleep on both my side and back comfortably, without my feet feeling restricted.

Thai Airways Business Class Footwell

Our daughter put on her eye mask and slept very well. However, despite the comfortable beds, Ryan and I kept waking up due to lots of turbulence .

Thai Airways Business Class Amenities

Jim Thompson Amenity Kit

The amenity kit was a lovely Jim Thompson collaboration, available only on business class flights over 3.5 hours (excluding Milan, Paris, Tokyo, and Shanghai).  This new collection launched in 2026 and features 14 exclusive new prints showcasing Thai culture and nature.

Thai Airways Jim Thompson Business Class Amenity Kit

We received the beautiful “Stamp Siam” print, inspired by postage stamps and showcasing Thai landmarks.

Thai Airways Business Class Amenity Kit Contents

Inside were:

  • Jim Thompson x Thai eyemask
  • 3M Earplugs
  • Biodegradable Toothbrush with cap
  • Marvis Toothpaste
  • Erb Hand & Nail Cream
  • Erb Lip Balm
  • Erb Aroma Roller
  • Comfort Socks
  • Biodegradable Shoe Horn
  • Travel Mirror with Thai logo
  • Multipurpose Cleaning Cloth with Thai logo

This was one of the better business class amenity kits we’ve ever received!  I appreciated the addition of some amenities that other airlines don’t usually include, such as the mirror, cleaning cloth, and shoe horn.  The toothbrush even had a cap which was handy so that I could reuse it.

The toiletries from local Thai company, Erb, smelled wonderful and felt great on my skin.

The bag itself is very attractive – it’s a keeper and one I’ll be reusing for my travels!

Kids Amenity Kit

Soon after we were seated, the crew came around and gave our daughter not one, but two kids activity kits!

Thai Airways Business Class Kids Amenity Kit

The first one was a Disney Mickey Mouse backpack with an activity kit and magnetic toy.  There were stickers, colored pencils, a notepad, a cool pen with bead maze, and activity sheets.

The second one was a Disney Moana messenger bag with a fun Moana board game.

These were a great way to keep our daughter occupied during the flight!

Thai Airways Pajamas

Most airlines reserve pajamas for First Class, so it was nice to see Thai Airways offering pajamas in business class.  And they weren’t just boring pajamas either – they were quite stylish (as far as airline pajamas go) and very comfortable!

Thai Airways Business Class Womens Pajamas

The pajamas, or comfort wear as they call it, are another collaboration with Jim Thompson and feature his signature Origami Elephant motif.

Thai Airways Business Class Pajamas

The pajamas were waiting for us at our seats when we boarded and were enclosed in a fabric pouch.  All were “Free Size” but I’m not confident that they’d actually fit anyone who was very tall or bigger than a size large.

Thai Airways Jim Thompson Pajamas

I was amazed at the quality – definitely one of the best pajamas we’ve received in business class and one that I have been rewearing since I’ve returned home.  The shirt is a 3/4 length sleeve and is a thicker material, whereas the pants are very lightweight and feel like a silky cotton blend.

Thai Airways Business Class Jim Thompson Pajamas

Our 7-year-old daughter received the same “free size” pajamas, which were obviously too large for her, so we left them behind.  However I really wish I had kept them to use at home for myself!

Slippers

Waiting at the footrest was a handy reusable shoe pouch containing a pair of comfy slippers.  They weren’t flimsy slippers, either. They had a sturdy sole and were made of a soft fluffy material in Thai Airways’ signature purple colour.

In-Flight Entertainment and Wi-Fi

The screens were a decent size and the remotes functioned well.  Below the screen were two USB-A ports.

Thai Airways Business Class 777-300er IFE

There was a good selection of movies and TV shows to choose from, and our daughter had no trouble finding kids content to watch.

Thai Airways Business Class Kids Content

The provided Marshall headphones were pretty good quality as well.

Thai Airways Business Class Headphones

There was no Wi-Fi available on this plane, unfortunately.

Lavatories

There was one lavatory at the front of our cabin and another two behind us.  Thankfully we never had to wait long to use one.

Thai Airways Business Class Lavatory

The bathrooms were kept clean throughout the flight.  I appreciated the touchless faucet, nice toiletries, and the (fake) orchid as decoration.

Thai Airways Business Class Food Review

Forty-five minutes after takeoff, dinner service began.  We were given another hot towel, and then our tray tables were set with white table cloths.

Thai Airways Business Class Tray Table

Thai Airways Business Class Menu

Since our flight was departing from Frankfurt, meal pre-orders were not available for this flight as it’s only available on flights departing from Bangkok. Instead, we selected our mains from the menu before takeoff.

However, we were able to request a children’s meal ahead of time for our daughter.

Drink Menu

Dinner Review

Our meal began with a drink, small bowl of nuts with dried fruit, and two amuse bouche.

Thai Airways Business Class Amuse Bouche

For my drink, I requested a Thai Iced Tea but they mistakenly brought me a Tamarind Iced Tea.  It was good, but not the Thai Tea I had been craving.

The first amuse bouche was a Foie Gras Mousse Tartlet with Roasted Onion.  Fois gras is not my favourite but the tart was pretty good.

The second amuse bouche was Thai-flavored meat served on a cucumber slice – delicious!

Thai Airways Business Class Kids Appetizer

Our daughter received the same items as us – she loved the nuts and dried fruit, but did not want to try the amuse bouche.

Appetizer

Next came the appetizer: Beetroot with Cottage Cheese.  It was topped with baby pears, radicchio, mustard caviar and finished with balsamic vinaigrette.  It sounded odd on paper but tasted quite delicious!  I am normally not a fan of beets nor cottage cheese but I enjoyed this dish.

Thai Airways Business Class Appetizer

Our daughter, on the other hand, received a caprese salad as her kids appetizer.  I found it to be somewhat of an odd choice for a child, but she ate a few bites.

Main

We had three options to choose from for our main course:

  • Grilled Thai Chicken Roulade with Panaeng Curry
  • Pan-Fried Beef Tenderloin with Peppercorn Demi-Glace
  • Sous-Vide Pork Neck

Thai Airways Business Class Dinner

Both Ryan and I went with the Thai chicken option.  It was served with Thai Jasmine rice, a Thai omelette, and a side of sauteed shiitake mushrooms, carrots and sugar snap peas, with a “Tom Klong” style spicy clear soup with smoked mackerel, and a side of chillies.

Thai Airways Business Class Thai Main

The chicken with panaeng curry sauce was very tasty. The mackerel soup wasn’t my favourite, and I don’t eat eggs so I can’t comment on the omelette.  The sauteed vegetables were cooked well and I enjoyed them.

Thai Airways Business Class Kids Meal Pasta

As for our daughter, she received a huge plate of penne pasta with meat sauce and she chose a side of garlic bread to go with it.  She absolutely loved the pasta and bread.

Dessert

For dessert, we were offered a cheese plate and Black Forest Chocolate Mousse.  I skipped the cheese, but Ryan’s platter was presented nicely.

Thai Airways Business Class Cheese Plate

My mousse was good, but not all that impressive.  I wish they would have offered something Thai-inspired.  I didn’t end up finishing it.

Thai Airways Business Class Dessert

At least they offered me another drink and this time I got the Thai Iced Tea I was craving for.  It was delicious, especially with the grass jelly! I loved that it was even in the shape of the Thai Airways logo.

Thai Airways Business Class Thai Milk Tea with Grass Jelly Logo

Tahani’s kids’ dessert was quite similar to ours – it was also a chocolate mousse with cherries, but topped with Oreos instead of chocolate curls.  She didn’t love it either.

Thai Airways Business Class Kids Dessert

However, we didn’t realize there was still another dessert waiting for us.  The crew then came around with Haagen-Dazs ice cream!  There were three flavours to choose from – I can’t remember what the other flavours were but I went with the coffee.  It was the perfect sweet treat to end the meal.

Thai Airways Business Class Chocolates

But the crew had one last surprise for us: a box of award-winning Thai craft chocolates before we drifted off to sleep.

Snacks

If we had been hungry, there was a whole snack menu we could have ordered from.  Everything sounded good and I wished we had room to try some.  However, we needed to get some sleep so didn’t get the chance.

Thai Airways Business Class Snacks

I loved that they offer movie snacks!  What a great idea.  A movie and caramel popcorn on the plane?  Perfect.

Breakfast Review

After too short of a sleep, the cabin lights were turned back on and breakfast service began.

Thai Airways Business Class Coffee

We again had three options to choose from:

  • Spinach and Feta Egg Souffle
  • Khao Ka Moo
  • Waffles

Thai Airways Business Class Breakfast

Both Ryan and I again went with the Thai option (it’s Thai Airways afterall – gotta get the Thai!) The pork was unfortunately quite dry and not that flavorful.

Thai Airways Business Class Thai Breakfast

The FAs came around with bread baskets and I chose the raisin rolls.  Thankfully they were very delicious. I also enjoyed my side of yogurt and fresh fruit.  And of course, I had to order another Thai Iced tea.

Our daughter was served waffles with cream sauce and poached apples, a side of yogurt, fresh fruit and bread.  She really enjoyed the waffles.

Thai Airways Business Class Service Review

The warm service stood out on this flight.  All of the crew were incredibly kind, genuine and professional.  I’ve been on other business class flights where the crew just didn’t seem very warm or genuine, but I was very pleased that this was not the case on Thai Airways.

For the first time on one of our business class flights, the flight attendants proactively made our beds while we were in the bathroom.  I always watch YouTube reviews showing how they returned to their seat to find it already made into a bed, but for some reason, it has never once happened on any of our previous business class flights.

I was so pleased that the Thai Airways crew got our seats ready for bed while we were in the bathroom, without us even having to ask.

Thai Airways Business Class Birthday Card

Also, our daughter had mentioned while boarding that it was her birthday, so at breakfast time, the crew handed her a birthday card and gift.  The card had been personally signed by all of the business class crew and captain!  She was so touched by their handwritten messages.

Arrival Experience at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (Fast Track Immigration)

Upon arrival at the airport in Bangkok, we were able to go through Fast Track Immigration.

Arriving at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport

To be honest, it was a bit confusing to find which line we were supposed to join and we initially joined the wrong one.  However, when we called over a staff member, they let us pass through to the Fast Track line.

Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport Arrival

Having expedited immigration was another great perk of flying business class with Thai Airways.

Final Verdict: Is Thai Airways 777-300ER Business Class Worth It?

If you ask our daughter which business class is her favourite, she’ll tell you it is Thai Airways!  She said the flight attendants were the kindest, she loved their uniforms, and the seats were the most comfortable.  For Ryan and me, the food was the highlight.

Thai Airways 777-300ER may not be the newest or most cutting-edge business class product, but the seats are comfortable, the Thai food is tasty, and the crew is wonderful.  I also loved the added perk of the stylish and comfy pajamas and beautiful amenity kit!

We definitely found Thai Airways business class to be worth it and wouldn’t hesitate to fly with them again. It’s a reminder that even if a product isn’t the newest or flashiest, great service and thoughtful details can still make a flight memorable.
